Get Comfortable - It's Sleep Comfort Month!



November is Sleep Comfort Month.  That's pretty important to us here at the best mattress store at the Lake of the Ozarks.  We promote comfortable sleep every day of the year, but November gives us an extra excuse to really bring the importance of a good night's sleep to light.  We have compiled a few tips from a variety of our past blogs to help you achieve the most comfortable night of sleep that you can possibly get.



The Mattress

If you have trouble sleeping at night or wake up feeling tired or sore, then you may need a new mattress.  If your mattress is over 10 years old, then you definitely need a new mattress.  Our sleep specialists know how to help you shop for the perfect mattress.  When you come to Slumberland Furniture in Osage Beach, be prepared for a test rest.  Bring your favorite pillow along with you and try out the mattresses that draw your interest.  You should spend at least 5 minutes on each mattress to really get a feel for it.  

The Mattress Protector

It may not add noticeable comfort to your sleeping experience, but it will definitely add piece of mind.  A mattress protector isn't only there to keep spills off or your mattress.  It keeps moisture like perspiration from soaking in.  It also keeps dust mites and other allergens from making a home inside your mattress.  You can stay comfortable while you sleep knowing that your mattress protector can be thrown in the washing machine whenever it needs to be freshened up.  It's not so simple to wash that stuff out of a mattress!

The Pillows

If neck problems are present every day when you wake up, it may be time to buy a new pillow. Much like mattress shopping, you will need to figure out what materials you are most comfortable with.  The position in which you sleep also figures into which type of pillow is the best for you.  If you don't always sleep in the same position night after night, you might think about buying a few different pillows. That way, you are covered for however you feel like sleeping on a particular evening.  



The Bed

Another thing that figures into your comfort is how you feel when you enter your bedroom.  If you have let yourself choose a beautiful bedroom set along with linens in your favorite colors and style, you will feel better about going in for a good night's sleep.  The bed that you pick out should be big enough to give you plenty of room to sleep comfortably.  If you toss and turn a lot naturally, go for that king size bed.  Of course, if you have taken our past advice on how to pick the perfect mattress, you probably won't be tossing and turning.  


Your Sleep Habits

We cannot stress enough the importance of a good night's sleep!  There are a few things that you should get in the habit of doing.  Do your best to stick to a steady sleep schedule.  The ideal hours for sleep are between 10 pm and 6 am.  Whenever you decide to go to sleep and wake up, strive to get at least 8 hours a night.  Don't go to bed hungry, but try to stop eating at least 2-3 hours before you lay down for the night.  Also, the darker the room, the better the sleep.
