All About Our 40 Winks Foundation

Our Lake of the Ozarks furniture store knows how important it is to give back to our community. Slumberland Furniture is involved and gives back in a number of ways. This week, we're featuring our 40 Winks Foundation. It's a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. Learn more about this incredible foundation below!

Slumberland created the 40 Winks Foundation to see that all children get off the floor and tucked into a warm bed every night.

How would it affect your daily life, including school or work? Unfortunately, that’s the reality for thousands of children across America. Getting a good night’s sleep is something they can only dream about.

That’s why Slumberland Furniture created the 40 Winks Foundation. Drawing its name from an old English expression for just the right amount of sleep, the foundation works to provide mattresses and beds to children who need them most.

Slumberland has been giving new beds – and good sleep – to those in need since 1991, through its annual Homes for the Holidays giving event each December. Over the years it became clear that a once-a-year event did not begin to cover the need that existed, and in 2008 the 40 Winks Foundation was born. Through the Foundation, new beds are distributed through our network of charity partners all year long.

By providing these basic resources, we hope to give children and families a full and healthy night’s sleep—and ultimately, a better quality of life.

It's important for children to get a good nights sleep. If they are well rested they will likely do better in school and have a better attitude. Providing beds for children in need is an important cause. Our children are the future of the world and we work hard to give them the best chance at success by providing a comfortable bed for a good nights sleep! A bed is sometimes something many people take for granted but for many children, it's a luxury.

The Joy of Giving - Slumberland's 40 Winks Foundation

Slumberland Furniture donates more than 10% of its profits every year to a variety of wonderful groups that assist families and children all over the world.  Our Lake of the Ozarks furniture store is very proud to be able to take part in this and offer a helping hand to local families that are in need.  Since 2008, our mattress store in Osage Beach has participated in a Homes For the Holidays Program, and this year we are excited to do it again.  

The 40 Winks Foundation was created by Slumberland Furniture to provide mattresses and beds to children and families that are not able to afford this basic comfort.  There are too many families across America that do not have the resources available to offer their children what is needed get a good night's sleep, which is an essential part of a healthy life.

We are a family-owned company that takes a special pride in being able to work with organizations that strengthen families.  We believe giving back is not only a good idea, but an essential part of doing business.  

In 1993, Slumberland Furniture began giving beds to families.  Our Making Homes for the Holidays Program takes place during the holiday season.  As of now, over 20,000 beds have been donated to those that would otherwise be sleeping on the floor.  

Our furniture store in Osage Beach has given away at least 20 mattresses every year since 2008.  This year Scott's Concrete and 107.9 the Coyote are partnering with us to give away 58 mattress sets!  These will go to families in Camden, Miller, and Morgan Counties that currently have to sleep on the floor or on a couch.  That makes it very hard to get a proper night's sleep, which in turn makes going to school or work extremely difficult.
