A Child's Room to Grow With Them

You can save yourself a lot of time and money in the long run if you design a young child's room to grow along with them.  Children's bedroom furniture that works well for both a toddler and eventually a teenager is not that difficult to come by. Slumberland Furniture in Osage Beach has wonderful pieces that do this perfectly.

Colors

It is good to remember that when designing a room to grow with your child, the simpler the design, the more flexibility you will have.  Going with a neutral color palette for walls and the main pieces of furniture make it easy to change the accent colors in the room as your child's tastes change.

Beds

Furniture with simple lines and timeless designs are a good decision.  Also, going for a gender-neutral look is perfect in case your son's baby sister may be inheriting the furniture.  Something with storage built-in allows for extra storage space as your kid's stuff grows along with them.  A captain's bed is great for older children's sleepovers.

Storage

Multi-functional furniture allows you to utilize one piece in many ways.  Rather than buying a changing table, consider a dresser that you can add a changing pad to the top of.  Once your child outgrows the need for it, you have a piece of furniture that a teenager can use for a TV stand.

If you have the extra room, go ahead and buy a larger dresser.  Even though a small child won't need that much storage space, it will allow them room to grow. What holds baby essentials and toys today will house school books and more later on.

Space

Toddlers enjoy having lots of open floor space to play in.  You don't have to outfit the entire room right away.  Start small with the necessary bed and a dresser.  As your child needs more storage or additional seating, add those pieces on one at a time.  Older children will even be able to give you their own input on what to buy.

As your children grow, so will their interests and tastes.  The more neutral the area is to begin with, the easier it will be personalize in a variety of ways later on.  Our Osage Beach furniture store is filled with wonderful pieces to help you furnish your child's bedroom in a way that both of you will love.  You can see a wide variety of kids' bedroom furniture on our website.  Use these to inspire you, then visit Slumberland Furniture in person to really get a good look at what you will be buying.

It's a good life!
