Question 1: How long have you lived at the Lake of the Ozarks?
Since around 2009, but vacationed and had a home here since 1990
Question 2: Who is your family?
My core family consists of my Husband, Randy Ray and our 3 sons, Austin, Parker, and Landon. We love living at The Lake and having our Parents, Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and entire family come stay and play with us.
Question 3: What is your favorite room to furnish?
That's a tough one because my favorite rooms are the Master Bedroom and the Living Room....but I think the Living Room would be my #1 choice....
That's the room that sets the "mood" for your home, the place where everyone gathers. Ideally, you can really fill the room with pieces that show the family's style and personality while still making it a super functional and comfortable space.
I think if you ask a person, "where is your favorite place in the whole world?" the answer should be, "my living room." Or at least, some spot in their home, as this is where we spend the majority of our time.
Question 4: What sets Slumberland Furniture in Osage Beach apart?
1). The first thing that comes to mind is our staff and their dedication to our guests and customers. We have a professional sales and delivery team that has been with us for a long time and they truly astound me with their level of customer care, design skills, product knowledge and desire to build relationships and be leaders at work and in our community.
2). Being a franchise store gives us so many unique opportunities to pass on to our customers. We are a locally owned and operated business, but with the Slumberland Corporate partnership, we have the manufacturer relationships and buying the power of all 127 Slumberland Furniture stores. This allows our buyers to search for the most customer desired furniture and mattresses and buy it at container/bulk pricing with an emphasis on quick shipments and quality product. We are able to pass that savings and selection directly to our customers at The Lake while remaining focused on our local small business and our service to the lake community.
3). We offer a 30 - day Satisfaction Guarantee for our customers.
We know how important a comfortable, appealing home is to families and how difficult those decisions can be when shopping for furniture and mattresses. If our customers are not satisfied with their purchase, we will offer a reselection or a full refund for 5 days after they have received their purchase. After that, up to 30 days, a one-time reselect is available. A $99.00 re-select fee will apply after 5 days. If a sofa doesn't "fit" the room, or the color doesn't work, customers can get a full refund or make a new selection. Families that are comfortable and relaxed and happy in their homes is our goal!
4). We offer a 120-day Satisfaction Guarantee for Mattress and Mattress Protector Purchases: Customers should not have to fear "making a mistake" when selecting a new mattress. When purchasing both your mattress and mattress protector from Slumberland; you will receive 120 nights to confirm your satisfaction. If customers are unhappy with the comfort, size, or height of their mattress set, guests are allowed to reselect to ensure comfort and a great night sleep!
5). Our Commitment to The Lake Community. Each year our store donates 10% of our profits to individuals, charities, or agencies in our local community. Our annual Homes for the Holidays Program donates mattress sets to children in our area that do not have a bed or place to sleep. We work with our local Schools and other agencies to donate furniture, mattresses, and funds to families all around The Lake. We also team up with others to sponsor Community Activities and Beautification of The Lake of the Ozarks area.
As a Business Owner, when facing the many daily decisions and duties, I always try to focus on: #1. Will this decision provide a good shopping experience for our customers? #2. Will it benefit our Employees and help our Company be a great place to work? #3. Will this decision help our Lake Community and drive it to be the Best Mid-West Vacation Destination and/or the people living in it? Focusing on those 3 areas (the customer experience, our employees and work environment, and our local community), gives our Leadership Team focus to make sound, quality decisions for our Company.
Question 5: What is something no one knows about you?
I am a proud Farmer's Daughter! My dad grew over 2000 acres of corn, wheat, and soybeans and also raised hogs and cattle in my hometown of Mexico, Mo. I always loved "going with Dad" and working with the animals. However, long days of driving the grain truck or combine did NOT appeal to me in my early teens. I have now grown to love the memories of those long days and always get sentimental when going back to the farm and see my sons help their grandpa and learn about the Agriculture Industry!
Question 6: What is most rewarding about your job?
While it's fun working with furniture and interior design, the relationships I have built with our staff, customers and other business owners or managers in The Lake area is the most rewarding.
Question 7: What do you enjoy in your free time?
Hanging out with my family! I love doing and watching my kids do the things they love!! I play tennis, yoga, jogging, reading, watching sports and of course, boating and water sports at The Lake!
Question 8: What is your favorite collection in the store?
That's hard because I love so many of them and my styles change every time we get something new! I would say the Pathways Collection by Bauhaus. It is so comfortable and stylish and large enough to fit the whole family. You can choose your own sofa fabric and 20" down accent pillows that will compliment any living room, (this American company makes the SAME furniture for pottery barn, but ours has a much, much LOWER price).
Question 9: If you could furnish a famous person’s home, who would it be and why?
I would love to furnish Joanna Gaines home, (from HGTV'S Fixer Upper). She has such a gracious, fun spirit and an eclectic, unique style that I love. Of course, I would also love to learn and talk to her about the furniture industry, her business/leadership challenges as well as interior design.
Question 10: What is your favorite thing about living at The Lake?
SUMMER! Like many local residents, we were drawn to The Lake because of so many great childhood memories here! I hope to help create some of those precious memories for my own children, my nephews, and niece and their friends.
Our family spent so much time at the lake while we were growing up and my most precious childhood memories were of time spent with friends and cousins on the water....skiing, boating, tubing, laying and laughing. I also went to college at Mizzou and spent summers working at The Lake, creating a whole new set of "Lake Memories". I knew then, during the summers working here, that I wanted to live here. I couldn't imagine life without water and, I'm sorry, but I am a freshwater, Midwest, love all 4 - seasons kind of girl. I can visit coastal towns, beaches, and the salty ocean, but not long-term. Lake Life is definitely the life for me!
