Creating an Infallible Sleep Routine

Studies prove time and again that a good night’s sleep can do wonders for your health. Of course, a good night’s sleep can also be determined before you ever even get in bed. In fact, a pre-bedtime routine is shown to help you fall asleep more easily at night, and stay asleep all night long. This doesn’t have to be as difficult as it may sound, though. Here are a few things you can do to begin wonderful and helpful sleep habits.

Keep You Schedule

Quantity doesn’t always matter when you are getting up and going back down at different times every day. Your body has a natural rhythm, and while you can train this rhythm (like eating at specific times every day, or getting tired at the same time), it’s still important to keep it the same. Your body’s internal clock likes consistency, so try to get ready for bed at the same time every day and see how much better it will make you feel.

Consider Your Eating Habits

Nicotine and Caffeine are well-known stimulants that can affect your ability to fall asleep easily. Not just that, but they can also take hours to wear off, which will make it even hard to go to sleep and stay asleep. Avoiding them for four to six hours before bed can make a world of difference. You should also think about the time that you eat. You don’t want to go to bed on an empty stomach, but you also don’t want to be digesting huge amounts of food in bed either. Plan dinner at an appropriate time, and then if it’s too early, you can sneak in a bedtime snack.

Create a Comfy Bedroom

Nothing can make it harder to sleep than watching a ticking clock. If you find yourself laying in bed for more than 20-ish minutes and you still don’t feel drowsy, it’s time to get out of bed and do something peaceful until you do.
